Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a first-grade teacher at a Title I school serving 50 emergent bilingual students, I am committed to creating an engaging and healthy learning environment. Contributions of markers and sanitary wipes play a crucial role in achieving this goal.

Markers are essential tools in our classroom, facilitating interactive lessons and creative expression.

They enable students to participate in hands-on activities, such as writing on paper of a variety of hues and creating visual projects, which are vital for language development and comprehension for my emergent bilingual students. These activities not only make learning more engaging but also help in reinforcing new vocabulary and concepts, crucial for emergent bilingual students.

Maintaining cleanliness in the classroom is essential to prevent the spread of illnesses. Sanitary wipes are indispensable for disinfecting surfaces such as desks, doorknobs, and shared materials. Regular use of disinfectant wipes helps reduce the presence of germs, contributing to a healthier environment and reducing absenteeism. This is particularly important in a classroom setting where young children are in close contact and may not always adhere to perfect hygiene practices. 

For emergent bilingual students, a clean and resource-rich classroom supports both their health and educational development. Access to ample markers encourages them to express themselves and engage with the material actively, aiding in language acquisition and cognitive development. A sanitized environment ensures that students can attend school regularly, providing them with consistent learning opportunities necessary for mastering a new language.

In summary, donations of markers and sanitary wipes significantly enhance the learning experience by promoting creativity, ensuring health, and supporting the unique needs of emergent bilingual students in our classroom.
