Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

A donation of a Lexmark color printer to my class will create the level of engagement in my students that I long for. I see my students making connections to complex concepts. I see them having the advantage of working with colored images during Center Time. Colored images will capture my students attention and will help them to maintain some amount of steady interest. It goes without mention that the colored prints will also assist in helping my students to interpret and show understanding of specific graphs and charts when presented.

Color images will spark my students imagination and greatly build their interaction and discussion.

Having the opportunity to print in color will help students to make connections and interpretations of many images. I envision my class having discussions on their findings since color is naturally engaging for all learners. I build and use a Visual Support area for my students daily progress. They rely heavily on their specific schedules for their flow of the day. Colored print outs are well accepted than the black and white prints. The sky would be the limit when it comes to the visual materials we will be able to use.

All of my students fall under the Special Education umbrella. Some are Autistic, Learning Disabled, Speech Impaired, or have Other Learning Disabilities. I find them all interesting boys and girls who always try to learn something new every day. I encourage them to use their strengths to get to their weakness and I'm so proud of their achievements within their limitations. I've seen them work through their differences and think win-win for all parties involved. I genuinely value all of their wonderful personalities that flows in my classroom.
