Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Please help me create colorful engaging activities for 4 and 5 year olds! Transitional kindergarten provides a stronger foundation for continued success in math and reading in elementary school.

Two of the ways that I do this is through centers and dramatic play.

In small group centers, students are given the opportunity to explore new concepts independently or with teacher support. In dramatic play, I create different themes such a flower stand, bakery, and food stand that students participate in. These type of activities better prepare them for the academic demands of kindergarten by focusing on foundational skills like literacy, math, and social-emotional development in a playful and supportive environment. They learn how to engage socially with others and practice their problem solving. These type of activities benefit all students.

Unfortunately, I have to print many of these activities from home. The color printer at my school is often out of ink, and when it does have ink, there are issues with the quality. My plan is to use these items for years to come. Printing these activities from school would also save me time! Your donation will help support an environment that sets a stronger foundation for my students. Thank you!
