Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students always surprise me with how creative and kind they can be. I love to see them working together and encourage each other to overcome difficulties. My students are 6-12 graders with IEPs of varying skill levels. Many are extremely resilient and supportive of each other. A lot of the students are passionate about the arts and are talented artists, dancers, singers, and actors. They enjoy working in our small group setting because they are able to get more individualized attention to improve their literacy and communication skills.

My Project

Currently, we are limited to printing in black and white but many of the manipulatives needed for speech therapy are created in color. Colorful visuals enhance communication and provide students with access to learning new and challenging skills. Resources that use color can stimulate retention, participation, and will boost active learning.

Allowing us access to a color printer will help students receive beautiful, high quality, colorful resources for their therapy sessions.

The color printer will make a difference in my students' learning because color is engaging. This printer will enable me to create posters, various visual aids, charts, activities, and assignments in color for my students. Access to color printing will make our daily activities fun and more visually appealing.
