This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a wonderful group of mixed-ability students from a population of both general and special education students. They come from all income levels, geographic regions, and backgrounds -- and share in common a sense of drive, ambition, and creativity. While they are currently working on rigorous pre-college curricula, they nonetheless find the time to volunteer, participate in sports, and student ran clubs.

Over the course of the year that I have spent in the school, students have produced an amazing variety of class projects evidencing their learning!

The effort given to their education in spite of many challenges, is inspirational. Despite the many barriers they face as teenagers in the largest City in the nation, they rise and live out their dreams. In my school, the spirit of the American Dream is vibrant.

My Project

This printer will allow students to show their knowledge in the domains of physics as well as literature! Currently, our black and white printer is out of ink for the year, and many of our classwork is project based. Students from higher incomes will often have access to color printing, and I would like to ensure that all students, no matter their family access to resources, can create great and beautiful projects.

With many graphs, learning resources, and class projects, color printing is a key element of the learning.

For example, a recent physics project had five lines that must be plotted, the only way to differentiate the lines was to print them in color. With a class color printer, students will have the ability to evidence their learning.
