This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Students will be creating infographs/brochures based on the research of the long-term effects of contact sports and the injuries that come with them, specifically CTE - but also includes the mental and emotional perils that can come with wanting to win and/or being pushed to win at all costs.
However, they will also be researching the positive aspects of team sports.
These things include learning how to colloborate and communicate for the greater good, the scholastic and career potential opportunities that come along with being involved in team sports, and the work ethic and commitment skills that are acquired by committed athletes.
They will write an argumentative essay based on their chosen side. The culminating project will be a non-biased brochure for students and their parents, providing both the positive and negative aspects of contact sports teams.
