Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school district, I know the challenges my students face every day. These students are creative, hardworking and focused. They come to school everyday ready to learn. They are resilient young people and make me proud daily. In my social studies class the students are required to complete projects, presentations, and writing activities that need to be printed in color. My students are also required to keep portfolios of their work which means purchasing simple things like file and hanging folders. Thanks to everyone at DonorsChoose.org I was able to get a color printer with starter ink but we need to refill the printer ink which can be very expensive. These are simple things that most of us take for granted but my students struggle to get.

My Project

All of our students want to be able to turn in work that would stand out. Many of my students do not have access to color printers at home. At school, our printers only print in black and white. Through DonorsChoose.org we were able to get a color printer for our class.

Now we have this wonderful printer but need more ink to keep our printer going.

Our students also need to keep portfolios of their work so hanging folders would be awesome to keep all their work in one central place. This will help build responsibility as well as pride.
