My Students

I work as an occupational therapist at a Title 1 school in Brooklyn. Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Our classes serve students with a range of disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities. The typical students that I service have difficulties with writing, manipulating snaps, buttons, and zippers. They have difficulty navigating the school environment without assistance. Despite having these difficulties they still enjoy coming to school.

My Project

My students are Occupational Therapy students who struggle with fine motor skills. They love to learn and they love to have colorful manipulatives that they can hold and learn with. This HP printer, with enough HP 910 ink, will allow me to print colorful things, laminate them, and then use them with my students. They will be able to manipulate and hold these pieces so that they can develop much needed fine motor skills. These fine motor skills will help them learn to write with each throughout the school year.
