My Students

We're almost halfway year into our school year and we are having a fantastic time! The worries of being at a new school with new students are officially over and so much learning has been taking place. Even though it's only been a few months, I am pleased at the performance of all of my students. Especially because they each have a learning disability that affects how they process and communicate information that has been taught daily.

My students love learning, but many of them need an alternate outlet to demonstrate comprehension of lessons learned.

While some are able to verbally or produce a written understanding of reading, math, and writing concepts, others require picture representations of information, to demonstrate understanding. Instead of using pencils, which are a huge resource in our classroom, we are in need of all things Crayola for this project!

My Project

Crayola products have been around since I was an elementary school student. I can easily remember mostly using them for art time, or to color in pictures. For my students, the use of Crayola products take on a different meaning. Through these products, my students are able to use graphic organizers coupled with individually created pictures to demonstrate knowledge of material that has been learned. While some students are in fact able to provide a verbal and written response to their assignments, I want all of my students to achieve and be successful. I want to allow them to prove understanding of materials presented to them in a way that they are able. As an added bonus, I wanted to choose resources that will support other artistic talent that has been found in my students.

We are tapping into student creativity with this project, and I can't wait to see the results!

Students are able to use the classroom pack of crayons and markers for their assignments in reading and math. Whether it is completing a color by number math activity or a non-linguistic representation of reading material, they will have multiple options to complete these tasks. Whether it is a large colored pencil or a small marker that is needed, the Crayola products that I have chosen will suit every student. From a teacher perspective, I am also looking forward to using the Crayola Poster Markers to create visual posters for students needing additional support throughout the classroom. We are even tapping into our senses with a classroom pack of Mr. Sketch markers.

We're hoping that you can help us with our project!
