Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a speech-language pathologist, I serve a range of students from preschool-5th grade. I work in south central Los Angeles with low income families to support children with special needs.

I service students with a variety of disabilities to include autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, and children with articulation/phonological delays, and expressive/receptive language delays.

I love seeing my students blossom and grow. I like seeing them smile as soon as they enter the speech room and see something cool! A simple, "this is so cool Ms. T." makes my day!

My Project

As I am a busy and overwhelmed speech pathologist serving 65+ children, appropriate materials is crucial in order to see children succeeding in speech therapy. I have found to be most successful when providing my children with materials they can manipulate, such as putting things "in", "out", "on." I love creating materials in order to be able to better engage students with special needs. I see them succeeding and putting forth their best effort when they are motivated, and COLOR makes a world of a difference! Please help me continue to create an active and fun learning environment that ALL children deserve!
