My Project

My students are not too interested in black and white papers. From books, to magazines, to dramatic play elements, my students are drawn to color!

Color makes learning POP!

I don't have access to a color printer in my classroom so I go to FedEx Office often to print items in color. As you can imagine, the amount of my money I spend for color prints is a lot. But, I notice the difference in the level of engagement when my students work with items in color. It's surprising how something as simple as adding color can increase student attention and add depth to discussion.

Example: I made animal sorting cards that I printed in color and laminated. When sorting animals by habitat, some of my students were able to make the connection between an animal's habitat and its coloring.

Student: "Most of the brown animals live in the desert."

Me: "Why do you think that is?"

Student: "Because the desert is really brown and hot."

(Remember, I work with PreK. This is impressive!)
