My Project
This year I am incredibly fortunate to have the most amazing fourth grade students in my class! My students are so inquisitive in all subject areas, especially Social Studies.
Our Social Studies curriculum is learning about all things related to New York State including Colonial America.
The students learn about the 13 original colonies and what life was like during that time. The students learn about the jobs of men, women and children such as farming, sewing, cooking, taking care of the animals and what schools were like.
We end our unit with a Colonial Day celebration with all of the 4th Grade classes. The students dress up like colonial children and attend different colonial activities throughout the day such as kite making, calligraphy with feather pens and lantern making.
Having these hats will make it even better for the students to experience wearing a real colonial hat!
