My students live in a high-need community. Even with the challenges that my students face everyday, they are motivated to attend college.

Teaching mathematics to high school students that aspire to go to college can be difficult when their reading comprehension levels are not where they should be. The low level of reading comprehension inhibits their growth in mathematics. Many of my students have a difficult time with the mathematics portion of their college entry exams.

For high school students, taking the SAT or ACT exams is stressful if you are not prepared. Having SAT and ACT review books available for my students in the classroom will encourage my students to study for their college admission exams. Also, a print rich environment, books my students want to read, will inspire my students to read.

Your help will give my students the resources and encouragement they need to develop their reading comprehension, math skills and test taking strategies for college entry exams.
