Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year, I will be teaching a college and career readiness course to incoming tenth graders through the AVID program. As they go into their second year of high school, I am going to support them and prepare them as they build their organizational skills and habits in preparation for life after high school (college and careers). With the binders and dividers, students will learn to organize the work that they complete in the classroom, in order to be a successful student. By providing the necessary materials for my students, I can lessen the burden for my students, of having to purchase the materials. With your generosity, I can ensure a safe space in the classroom where my students will have access to the academic necessities that will support them in their journey to higher education.

My students have high motivations to be the first in their family to attend an institution of higher education, and are curious and excited to learn about how to become the best scholars that they can be.

With the support of these educational materials and this college preparation program, these students will build healthy and sustainable habits that they can take with them into the colleges that they choose to attend. My students are excited to work on creating study habits that they can take with them into their classrooms and extracurricular activities, while also working on developing their communication and teamwork skills through study groups and activities.
