Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Students are coming to school early on a Saturday morning?!?! Yes, those that voluntarily attend our new Saturday college prep course! We are a high needs, bilingual Spanish high school. Our students need extra help in the college writing process, as all of them are English Language Learners.

Many of our students are the first to go to college in their families. It is our responsibility to prepare them well, and it is my personal challenge to have them produce strong essays that are viable for college admissions in this upcoming semester's Saturday college preparation course.

I am asking for five books that will help illustrate the essay writing process, as well as provide amble examples of real essays to my students. Also, I am asking for a class set of folders to help them stay organized with all the paperwork entailed in the application process. These books and folders will be the crucial tools to help teach and prepare my students for a very challenging and daunting task: Writing a college admissions essay in their second language.

Your support would enable my students to successfully prepare for the best opportunity they can imagine, a chance at higher education. As we are an all immigrant school, it is the core of our families' and students' dreams to pursue university. Please help make their American dreams become a reality by providing them an opportunity to properly prepare for higher education. Thank you so much!
