Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is quite possibly one of the most unique campuses in all of LAUSD. It is a bedrock for learning for a vulnerable population of children.

On one side of the school is ACDS.

These students live next door in a 24-hour residential treatment facility called RSA. The students are placed in RSA either through the probation department or the DCFS. They come from all over LA County.

On the other side of the school is AOHS. These students come to us from all over the San Fernando Valley. They have been referred to us from neighboring comprehensive schools, either for disciplinary issues, credit recovery needs, or chronic absenteeism. Usually, our school is their last academic stop, and they are on the verge of becoming “dropouts”. Please help in creating a college center to inspire our youth to go to college and not become another statistic.

Creating a college center for our students in our school will provide a space where they will get help from a counselor to enroll in a college which can help change the trajectory of their lives. Having pennants from different colleges and universities will inspire our students to apply to the different colleges. Please help us.
