My Students

The students of my self-contained classroom inspired me to do something sweet for them because they are all wonderful and eager to learn.

Our school is a Title I school which has nearly 1000 students from various and similar backgrounds all of whom are struggling to receive the best education possible while dealing with the circumstances of living in a poor and over-crowded school district.

A typical day in my 6-8th grade Self-Contained classroom for students with special needs can be demanding and stimulating. I am constantly on my feet all day. My days are spent constantly redirecting my student’s behaviors, teaching to meet the academic needs of each individual student, giving out rewards.

My Project

I am proud to to mention that my Middle School Student have expressed to me owning a small business of their own. My project will make a difference in the lives of my students by allowing them the opportunity to use the glue guns, glue sticks to promote college and career remediation. My students with special needs need social and emotional skills to be career and college ready.

They need to know how to use hands -on learning in a special way that will pave the way to small business ownership.

My students are always excited to use tools to make objects, sculptures and picture hangings that connect classroom lessons being taught.

I currently bring my personal glue gun and glue sticks into the classroom for students to use and it recently broke in the middle of our Jamestown Architecture Project. With the new SUREBONDER Cool Shot Low Temperature Mini Glue Gun hot glue guns, glues, and ppower strips, my students will be able to have the tools and materials that they need, and will be able to easily build houses of straw or sticks, animals, people and whatever else they can imagine and illustrate about career readiness in building and management.

My students need to practice college and career readiness. They will use the Pacon 4 Ply Posterboard Assorted Colors, 22" x 28" to create student blue prints and to hang finial illustrations. By working with many types of materials from pop- sticks projects to eventually stain glass projects. They will practice flexible thinking, originality, and elaboration, which are 3 major factors in creativity.

My students need glue guns with glue sticks and poster boards to display creativity. In addition to illustrating they work, these tools will will help with behavioral modification and college and career readiness.
