My Project

I am a lady of many hats at my school, two of my larger hates involve supporting 450 students as an academic counselor at our secondary school and as our K-12 Gifted coordinator for our vast gifted population.

As an academic counselor, I would love to bring as many college and career options as I can to our students to help them take their next step beyond high school.

I currently have boxes of brochures and options available for our students to browse, but we need a brochure structure and shelves to help display the various college and career options available to help them dream about their future. COVID-19 has impacted our teenagers greatly, many are struggling to see beyond their senior year. The lack of normal teenage experiences during the pandemic has hampered every aspect of their social and emotional growth; including social isolation, colleges closed to visitors, lack of teenage jobs, dating, etcetera. My goal is to help our students begin to see the light and help them start dreaming about their futures again.

As the gifted coordinator for our school, I see a desperate need to bring additional resources to help our teachers be more successful in assisting our gifted students. Our school offers 1st through 6th grade self-contained gifted classes as well as continuing our gifted program through our Scholars Prep program in grades 7 through 12th grade. The books selected are essential resources to help our teachers differentiate and create an environment conducive to helping every gifted child be challenged at their academic level through differentiation. We will use the books for professional development, PLC, and as an independent resource.
