Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title 1 school in New York City. The majority of my students come from low socioeconomic status. Many of which cannot afford school supplies. The majority of my teacher's choice money goes to buying supplies for my students and our classroom.

My Project

Due to the pandemic, some of the children haven’t been in school since March 2020. They lost the opportunities to meet with classmates in small group settings. The restrictions placed upon the in-person students also prevented them from meeting in small groups. With these portable desks, the children will be able to participate in small group collaborations, in an in-person setting. With these desks they will be able to keep 3-feet apart but also sit in a separate small group of their own. These desks are easy to sanitize, to ensure the safety of everyone.
