My Students

My students come from a school where they all receive free breakfast and lunch. School is a very important part of their lives. It is the place that makes them feel safe and secure. Through generous donors we are able to help them have what they need.

My students love to come to our school library though out the day.

The library is the hub of our school. It is a place where students not only come to get books but also a place where they can come if they need help or just need to talk.

My Project

Throughout the course of a week I see around 370 kids from first to fifth grade when they come to the library. This is my fifth year as our school’s media specialist. I am constantly trying to find ways to make our library more engaging and kid friendly. When the students come to the library they are grouped into six different teams. One of the life skills that I am trying to teach my students is collaboration and how to work together as a team. This is not an easy skill for our students to grasp especially after being out of school for a long period of time during the pandemic. By purchasing dry erase activity tables my students can work together with their teams to brainstorm and collaborate on projects. This will be a fun hands-on way for them to work together and will help keep them engaged and focused.

These dry erase activity tables are a way for my visual learners to show their visual thinking and will help boost student creativity.

They will provide my students with a larger space where they can brainstorm and work out ideas.

Our school library is the hub of our school. Throughout the day students are continuously coming into the library to check out books. Dry erase activity tables would be a great addition to our library. They will help us in our goal to transform our library into a place where students not only come to check out books but also create opportunities for students to collaborate and work together.
