My Students

What will it take for my students to be successful in life when they graduate from high school and college? Engaging in a community of learning sets my students up to be involved global citizens in the 21st century.

My students are energetic and LOVE learning.

They love sharing their work and feeling proud of a job well done. A vast majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Additionally, at the young age of 7-9, many are learning to overcome life's obstacles and focus on personal growth. Our school is dedicated to guiding students to achieve the highest possible standards through hard work and collaboration.

My Project

This project will bring our class into the 21st century, where collaboration and sharing knowledge are central to learning. As we sit together on our rug, we will use our document camera to project our work so all can see it. In writing, students will be able to show off their work and ask others for compliments and suggestions to help improve their writing. In mathematics, students will be able to show others their thinking and explain it, with other students learning the multiple methods peers use to solve problems. Simply showing our work on a piece of paper isn't enough-- it's hard to see. Second graders work best when they can both see and hear what is being shared.

Our document camera will spark discussion and collaboration around content and student work!

These are key components for 21st century learning and citizenship, and the project will support my students in becoming lifelong learners.
