My Project

Reading is an integral part of learning and a missing part for so many of my students. My students struggle with focus due to many factors, from disabilities such as ADHD, to living in a world where parent's or a parent in most cases are working multiple jobs just to pay the bills; leaving these students to take care of siblings and worry about adult issues way too soon. Giving my students a cozy spot to escape and read will encourage this important step in their development journey. My cold classroom floor isn’t the welcoming environment to promote this.

A rug and a few bean bag chairs can make a world of difference in how my students view independent reading time.

Lap desks will allow students to work in collaboration circles with their fellow classmates. Studies have shown collaboration among students is proven to increase learning and retention.
