My Students

Hello! I am a social worker in a community with children and families who are resilient, capable, intelligent, kind, curious, and so much more. Our community school helps provide the local community children with mental health services, dental, and optometry.

Our school is in a community of proud families and one of the things we need help with is funding is clothes for the winter clothing, specifically tights for layering, coats, socks, hats, mittens/gloves, and neck warmers.

Due to COVID-19, many of our families wait outside for arrival and dismissal, rain or shine. Children's clothing can get extremely expensive, especially with our families on very limited income with multiple children. I have seen many children come to school with only a windbreaker and because they don't want their parents to be called, they say they "aren't cold". I'd like to discreetly provide our children with basic clothing for the winter. Please help me meet my goal! I appreciate all of you.

My Project

These cold weather clothes will be used to provide students with clothing during the winter. There are more than 3 shelters in the immediate vicinity of our community school and the need for basic cold weather clothing for the children is immense. There are times, during morning arrival and dismissal that children are dressed for 40 degree weather with very little protection against the weather.

Donating to this project will help in keeping kids in school.

Sometimes, a child doesn't have sufficient clothing for the weather and therefore is kept home from school. Clothing plays a big part in a child's attendance; having clean, weather appropriate clothing is the difference between a child being absent to chronically or severely absent. And we all know that the more kids are absent, the more instructional learning they miss.

Please consider donating these essential cold weather items for the children. Thank you for all you do, you are all appreciated.
