My Students

Our school corporation is a rural district, trying to equip our students with the skills and experiences to be successful in our ever-changing world. I have the privilege to teach first grade, in our small rural district.

My first grade students are excited about the world around them.

As their teacher, it is my goal to create opportunities to make them curious about the world around them. My goal is to empower them to ask questions and find answers. My students are world changers.

My Project

I am requesting leveled mystery books, fake mustaches, detective hats, detective kits, and accessories to transform my classroom into a crime scene.

I am looking to create a mystery unit where my first graders learn to fall in love with reading.

We are going to spend time learning about the parts of a mystery story and then read Cam Jansen mysteries during our reading group time. I want my students to have fun learning experiences to help them develop a life-long love of learning. We will use the invisible ink to write down clues we learning while reading. We will, of course, need to read while wearing our fake detective mustaches. I want to create a fun learning atmosphere where my students can crack the case and discover that learning is fun!
