This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students in my classroom are special education students in a Comprehensive Life Skills class. They learn skills to become more independent and skills that will help them when they leave school. We focus on life skills and academics. Currently, I have eight students in my classroom. We are also a Title I school.
This school year, my students have implemented a coffee cart.
We service teachers every Friday. Students are in charge of making the coffee and hot water for hot chocolate, apple cider, and tea. Each week, teachers order and then the students fulfill the orders. They practice life skills such as cooking, counting money, and social skills- saying, "Please", "Thank you", and "That will be $___. "
The items I have requested will help my students serve the whole school instead of just half the staff. I have requested an additional cart as we only have one cart presently. Having two carts will allow us to serve the whole school instead of just half the staff. I also requested carafes to hold the coffee to keep hot and to keep the water hot to serve tea, apple cider, and hot chocolate. The last thing I have requested is additional creamers to be used for our staff.
