Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year, I am teaching an inquisitive group of Gifted Third Graders that are cooperative and eager to learn. They are hands-on learners that like to work cooperatively. They enjoy asking questions and sharing their thoughts and experiences.

My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including the Caribbean and South America.

Most of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some of my students speak both English and Spanish. A few of my students have recently exited the ESOL program which means they were learning English as a second language. Many of my students have siblings either at our school or still at home while others are the only child at home. Many of my students have both parents working and are in the after-school care program or ride the bus.

My Project

The Sphero Sprk+ Steam Robot would be a fascinating and captivating educational toy. The Sphero Sprk+ would enable my students to learn to code while working cooperatively and using technology. Coding is the future and we need to prepare our students now for a brighter future!

Safety is a major concern in our public school.

In order to keep our students safe, we now have our classroom doors locked. Sometimes, it is difficult to hear when someone knocks so the doorbell would be easier for the students to use and cause less disruption while teaching.

Additionally, my students love to read books but need a few more pillows to read comfortably on the floor. These positive pillows would provide positive messages and comfort.
