My Students

I teach a fabulous group of hardworking scholars at a large urban school in Southern California. I have 26 active, curious learners. My students come from a variety of backgrounds and socioeconomic levels, and the one thing that unites them is their respect for one another, collaboration, and a desire to create. They come to school each day prepared to work hard, learn, problem solve, and face new challenges. They are kind, funny, and inquisitive. They love to propose ideas, suggestions, and problem solve through hands-on investigations. I feel privileged to work with such an amazing group of students.

My Project

My students need to build 21st-century skills through the use of technology. An Ozobot is one of the world’s smallest programmable robots, measuring just over one inch in height and diameter. Ozobots allow access to coding which will build their creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

The Ozobot will give students the opportunity to code and build their problem-solving skills while using technology.

The classroom starter kit of the Ozobot contains 18 bots and instructions to get coding into my students’ hands. Utilizing small groups, we can begin coding where students have the opportunity to be flexible thinkers and confidently develop problem solving skills.

Many future careers will require technology and we want our students to be best prepared for whatever they choose to do in life.
