My Students

My students attend a Title I school in an urban neighborhood.

Our school is made up of a diverse group of kids.

They may have challenges, but they also have heart, determination and willpower. Just over 75% are eligible for free or reduced priced meals. Our school has two classes each of kindergarten through fifth grade students. In addition we have an on-site preschool and a family resource center. We also have a STEM program that includes an after school program that brings enrichment and new learning opportunities to our students.

My Project

Students will use Codesters to create using technology. They will learn to write code through a series of lessons. They will apply what they learn to demonstrate a deeper understanding of math concepts. We will use Codesters alongside our math program to make what they are learning in math more relevant and exciting. Some things students will learn to do is code to solve math problems. An example of this would be to have students write a program that can solve for range, median, and mode. Doing this will reinforce and deepen learning.

Coding teaches math, logic, and creativity.

It is the twenty-first century language that can open doors for my students' futures.
