My Students

My students attend school in a low income, high poverty city, where they have overcome more challenges by the time they enter fifth grade than most students. I work daily with these students to create a learning environment that takes them away from their day to day struggles and submerges them into a world of so many possibilities and experiences. I love to incorporate new, meaningful experiences into our classroom.

Many of my students may never leave the city and lack real-life experiences needed to build background knowledge and exciting educational experiences.

These students deserve a space that is comfortable and that they can call their own. They deserve lessons, materials, and opportunities that get them excited about learning.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of STEM related coding bots for my classroom. I hope to use these materials during small group and center time to build in coding opportunities for my students. Using these materials as collaboration tools for fifth graders will help develop problem solving skills while integrating math and science into a variety of learning opportunities.

Coding bots offer hands-on and high interest academic challenges for my 5th graders.

I am always working to motivate and drive my students to become life long learners. Through the variety of coding and STEM materials I am requesting, I will be able to offer my students new educational experiences, that will drive their desire to learn and come to school daily. I look forward to implementing coding centers in my classroom using the Botley, Sphero and Dash bots.
