Your contribution to my students gives them the opportunity to learn how to write code for STEM projects.
My students are involved in an after-school program called MESA, which stands for Mathematics, Engineering, and Science Achievement. In this program, students work together on various projects (several this year involve some aspect of coding). The students work very hard throughout the year and compete every May. Last year, they did so well that they earned 2nd Place for high school in Arizona on MESA Day. By giving students the opportunity to have the technology they need, you are helping students get exposure to STEM activities and inspiring future scientists and engineers.
Not only will these laptops be used this year, but they will be used in future years as well. My students recently attended a workshop where they learned how to code robots and fell in love with the idea of creating their battle bot and programming it to not only move but attack and defend. With these opportunities, my students are being exposed to STEM skills and getting a running start to a STEM career..
This experience has proved to me and my students that they have a community outside the school that supports their dreams and success. Many of our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and would not be able to purchase a laptop themselves. Through your donation, my students can see that anything is possible if they are willing to strive for it and that there is a world outside that cares about their success.
