My school has a dynamic learning environment where we empower all students to become independent thinkers. My school has a diverse population. We are a Title l school and are considered high poverty. I work with all 600 students in the school.
As the school librarian, my job is to support learning across all academic subject areas.
Students in kindergarten through second grade will benefit from this project The items requested will help turn our library into a makerspace hub. Let's make the media center a place students want to be.
My Project
Students will use the Bee-Bots and Code & Go Robots during our library makerspace classes. Students will also use the code pieces with the Osmos they are already familiar with.
I like to pair STEAM activities with stories I read to my classes.
By extending their literacy time into the other subjects, the students are able to see how their learning is all connected.
The students will use both the Bee-Bots and Code & Go Robots to practice code while learning about life cycles in science, how to sequence events in a story, and how to alphabetize words. They will learn to work through the steps in a process by using the code manipulatives.
