My Students

Our school has a long history embedded in the community we serve. Students are excited to attend a school where many of their parents and even grandparents went before them. I have an exciting opportunity to going building a STEAM Resource program as we enter year 2 of the program! When you walk into my classroom you won't see students sitting in desks diligently taking notes, instead,​ you'll see students brainstorming ideas, drawing images, building models, testing their solution, and more!

My students are spunky, inquisitive, and hardworking.

"I never knew school could be this fun!" a student shouted to a group member as they were working on a STEAM project. It is moments like these that push me to ensure that my students always have opportunities for hands-on, real-life learning experiences. It is wonderful donors, like yourself, that can help me to provide these experiences to our youngest learners!

My Project

Teachers help students pave their own path in learning every single day. We're constantly discussing how we're preparing our students for jobs that don't even exist yet. Well it's time to pave our path through coding! Financial literacy is all about numbers. Building the foundation for number sense is vital for our students to feel confident in math and truly understand what numbers mean.

Learning how to code will build our students' number sense, which is the foundation for financial literacy.

The Coding Awbie game works with Osmo to teach students the basics of coding. Through logic skills and problem solving, students will learn about block coding, which is the concept of taking directional codes and telling an object how to move. Students will be using numbers to count their directional code and learn how to apply financial literacy in real world situations. Can you help my students see numbers in new places and learn how to apply their financial literacy skills?
