This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are an open enrollment un-screened Bronx High School that specializes in Engineering skills and Technology know-how. Our students love all things tech. Our students from the Bronx, NY are part of a program that creates connections between literacy and technology. Using ideas from Maker spaces and Computer science. We give children from diverse cultures, backgrounds, and low-incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within a space that will generate interest in computer science. My energetic makers enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and make. By having these tools my students will have access to an experience of making and learning about computer science in a low-risk setting that otherwise would not be possible.

My Project

Firia Labs organized a Codebot workshop at the PATHFINDER Infosys Professional Development Winter Institute 2021 to support educators and students learning coding skills.

At BETA, we empower our students to be proactive and guide them through their intellectual growth, as well as inspire a connected sense of community by building Tech and Engineering skills.

Using remote instruction and Virtual simulation we will bring future engineers together to compete in python coding competition. The students will work in paired programming models to complete work and check the viability of their code. This helps bridge graphical interface coding with command line coding.

The coding and the integrated development we worked at the Winter Institute is both challenging and highly supportive for learners to build confidence. This is a long held dream for our School ech department to move to coding in industrial standard languages and build out a program for under represented students in Computer Science with the skills necessary to compete in a post Remote learning world.
