My Students

A typical day in the life of a 6th-grader consists of a lot of reading, writing, and math. These things are all great, but we need more.

My classroom is full of diversity with kids from all backgrounds and countries.

I have many English Language Learners, who are doing their best to keep up with the rigorous demands of our curriculum. We are part of a Title 1 and Title 3 school, where the majority of students are living at or below the poverty level. All students receive free lunch because of their economic status. These kids do their best to keep up with the ever-advancing world around them, but we need help.

My Project

These kids need to be exposed to as much technology as possible. Coding and computer science is the way to go. These supplies will foster their need for innovation, and teach them to code. These robots will challenge students and foster their mathematical thinking. They can learn to create their own computer commands, and then load them into the robot. They can create their own blueprints for the robot to follow. This will give them exposure into the computer science world that is growing so rapidly.

Our school does not have enough technology to go around, and I strive to fill that void in the classroom. All classes around the city are being required to integrate computer science and technology. This coding program will help them keep up with the advancing curriculum and the world.
