Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students have special needs, and many of them are non-verbal and need modified materials to communicate and participate in lessons. They enjoy being able to participate in lessons beside their verbal peers by engaging with fun coding and hands on materials.

I enjoy seeing the excitement on their faces when they are working together with their peers to explore coding materials and problems.

Even my youngest students can benefit from the pre-linguistic skills that the earliest coding activities provide. The social skills they develop, such as turn taking with peers, will continue with them as they continue to grow and explore more complex coding activities.

My Project

My project will allow my students to grow in their coding and communication skills.

These coding items increase in complexity and will help my students transition from the basics to more difficult challenges, which will keep them engaged and motivated.

Learning Resources Coding Critters Bopper- Bopper will be the perfect addition to our upcoming spring themes. Not only will the students love to engage with the bunny and each other, but they will develop important coding skills at the same time.

Learning Resources Coding Critters Pair a Pets Bunnies Fluffy and Buffy- This item will be the perfect addition to Bopper the bunny. The extra bunny friends will allow more students to engage in collaborative play with one another as they continue to learn coding and social communication.

Learning Resources Snap-N-Learn Rhyming Pup- These items will be the perfect introduction to coding and will enhance pre-linguistic (colors) and literacy (rhyming) because my students will be able to learn the importance of fitting the correct items together by patterns.

VTech Rattle & Waggle Learning Pup- The learning pup will help my students with the very basic aspect of coding, which is cause and effect. This will allow even my youngest students to be exposed to coding.

Basic Fun Build-A-Bot Unicorn- This item will be the perfect partner to go along with our imagination theme. Students will love to not only explore STEM through building their own unicorn, but will also enjoy making it come to life with a simple sequence of commands.
