Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am truly excited about the opportunity to support my students in exploring the world of computer science through coding and interactive electronics. My students come from diverse backgrounds, including English language learners and those with special needs, and they all bring unique perspectives and talents to our classroom. What unites them is their boundless curiosity and their resilience in the face of challenges. They are eager to engage in creative problem-solving and learn new concepts, even when they feel unfamiliar.

The goal of this project is to provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging space where students can experiment with technology, express their creativity, and gain confidence in their coding abilities.

I want my students to see themselves not just as consumers of technology, but as creators who can build and innovate. With these materials, we can foster a passion for STEM and encourage all students—regardless of their background or learning needs—to realize their potential.

The materials I am requesting: LED stickers, conductive thread, and other basic electronic components—will allow my students to design and code their own interactive circuits. These tools will help bridge the gap between coding and hands-on learning, creating a learning environment that supports creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Students will not only practice coding and logic but will also gain experience with electronics, learning to create circuits that light up and respond to their code. This hands-on approach is especially beneficial for students who thrive in a tactile, creative environment. As they code and build, they will develop key skills such as troubleshooting, perseverance, and teamwork, while gaining confidence in their ability to bring their ideas to life.
