My Project

The objective of this project is to give ALL students in fourth grade at M. B. Elementary School an opportunity to apply skills learned in our CKLA reading book poetry unit. This will be a culminating activity where students can celebrate their poetry skills learned and allow students to express their views in various types of poetry writing. Students will be able to show their creativity by putting their poems in a published format that can be shared in class during a coffee house environment with hot chocolate. The formal poetry choices will allow students to choose the format that best exemplifies the meaning of their poem and publish their poems in a book that can be shared in class and taken home to share with their family.

The following items would allow for a culminating poetry writing activity that would benefit all students and provide a life skill of writing and public speaking.

Students will publish poems using a special colored pen and illustrate poems in their individual notebooks. The microphones will help students to be heard and feel like a professional writers, while other students enjoy the hot chocolate bar using the Keurig and hot chocolate. The culminating activity celebrates hard work after practicing writing for the standardized test and ending up with writing exemplary poems. Our students are extra special in fourth grade because they want to actively learn new knowledge and develop skills.
