Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Faculty and staff work tirelessly to prepare students to be college and career ready even before they start their freshman year. Our campus has a freshman retreat, at a local University campus that marks the beginning of their journey here where they would end; a college campus. Respect, Responsibility, and Commitment: our school values are the words out students live by. Our A-G college prep curriculum, AP classes, and concurrent enrollment opportunities aide our students to learn how to advocate for their future and take advantage of every opportunity. If I had to describe my students in one word, it would be ambitious. Our school serves low income, underrepresented minority students who work tirelessly regardless of any limitations that are set to stop them. They continue to push boundaries and excel past the expectations.

My Project

It is our tradition to celebrate the accomplishments of the senior students through Decision Day. This event helps us create a memorable Decision Day event for our graduating seniors that honors the students’ hard work and dedication to their education, celebrate their accomplishments, and provide them the support to begin the next stage in their life. Helps us continue building a college-going culture on campus and encourage students to seek higher education by supporting our annual Decision Day celebration.

Traditionally, During this school day event, we celebrate the accomplishments of the graduating class with prizes, food, games, and music.

We honor our seniors by providing them resources such as gift baskets, school supplies, and gift cards. Virtual Learning has impacted our students more than we can imagine and the materials requested help our students feel even more motivated to apply to post-secondary institutions because they have the chance to win these items in a raffle!

This year, regardless if our celebration is virtual or in person, any donation helps! Decision day is more than a celebration, it validates the hard work students have invested in their education. We hope to continue inspiring our students in pursuing higher education. Donations gifted will help students succeed in their post-secondary paths.
