My Students

There is no such thing as a typical day in Kindergarten. Teaching Kindergarten is organized chaos. As a teacher and having a type A personality, I plan everything to the last minute. But, depending on my students needs those plans always change. Teaching Kindergarten is always exciting!

My Kindergarten class is full of diverse learners.

I have a classroom of high learners and low learners. It is essential to their education that I reach them all. CES is a small school; Kindergarten-8th grade with around 115 students. We take pride in being a small school and trying to keep class sizes smaller.

My Project

I am requesting weather books and hands-on materials for my students. The students and I will read the books, discuss, and do extension activities off of the books. I will have different reading centers and activities to go along with the books. I will also extend weather into science experiments. I believe Kindergarten students learn best with pictures, music, and hands-on activities.

The Kindergarten Science standards state: Understand characteristics of weather conditions and climate.

Teaching in Arizona, where the weather is mostly sunny, it is hard to explain different types of weather to students who have never experienced it. I asked for interactive lessons, books, bins and hands-on materials to help the students understand the different concepts of weather!
