Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a Title I school where our students come from a diverse set of backgrounds. We have several students who live in shelters or temporary housing. Many additional students come from low income families who struggle to afford food and clothing.

Our school would like to create a one-stop shop where students and families can access life essentials like clothing, shoes and hygiene products.

This will help bring students and families into the school, where our dedicated Social Worker and Guidance Counselor can provide additional resources to help them. Through Title I funding, we are able to get some items, but not clothing. Therefore, the wish list for this project contains mostly clothing items.

My Project

Every child deserves to come to school without fear of being cold, hungry, or dirty. Far too often, I have seen kids come to school without a warm coat, or even made fun of for smelling badly or wearing the same clothes every day. Students should be able to walk into the building with confidence, so they can focus on their classes and their friends, rather than what they're wearing.

Access to life essentials allows kids to focus on learning, and helps increase family involvement in the school community.

These items will go to students whose families struggle to afford everyday products.
