Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 11th graders are college bound NYC inner city youth, who need technology to get them prepared and competitive for college. Although this generation of student's are "digital natives", and have their phones or tablets in front of their faces at any given moment, many lack working computers at home and type major assignments on their phone due to lack of resources. Working computers are not widely available for students to use.

In college, knowing how use a computer for word processing, editing, slide show presentations, and research becomes a must and will hinder student's in their freshmen year and beyond if technology in the classroom is not used and demonstrated.

My Project

Student's having Chromebooks will be a way of having student's interact with technology for educational purposes on a constant basis, therefore, getting them college ready. Students will learn how to do journalism type assignments, presentations, type and edit papers, as well as conduct research.

Student's will ultimately learn how much easier technology can make their lives.

My students will use these Chromebooks to research a variety of topics related to the history, journalism, and literature that they are reading in class. They will create presentations and truly word process their essays and learn how to type, using full-sized keyboards. They will be able to learn the proper methods of formatting essays, combined with research methods to strengthen their own understanding of the curriculum we cover.
