This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am requesting funds to be able to attend training on an effective, evidence-based approach to teaching reading. The Orton Gillingham systems are well-known and research-based in helping students achieve reading success! I will be taking a Morphology class that will help me better strengthen students' vocabulary and fluency skills for grades 3-5. My students will receive systematic, explicit, rigorous instruction in literacy skills that will help them achieve reading success and become on grade-level readers. I work with the lowest readers in our school and my role is to help students discover that they can be successful readers too, and to give them the tools they need to unlock reading.
