My Students

Our school has a unique community of learners. Currently, we have 596 students enrolled to which we are 130 students over our maximum capacity for our building. Our students come from such diverse backgrounds, but that is what makes us unique and special. In my classroom we have five different home languages, with English being spoken at various language abilities. We pride ourselves on being a community of learners. My students are the greatest: kind, considerate and very giving to each other.

My Project

Having a second audio center, including a CD player and headphones, will allow me to reach more students daily. It will allow me to create two groups of listening centers at the same time in their primary language. We have so many rotations during our ELA time which can be chaotic. This second audio center will allow us to make one less transition, which will essentially allow students to have a longer access to the audio center to focus on specific skills they are in need of.

We know the first step for children to develop a love for reading is to read to them.

Having this wonderful gift will allow them to develop that love as well as expand their minds, language skills and reading comprehension.
