My Students

I have about 300 Photography students ranging from 9th - 12th grades that are passionate about learning the art of good photo taking.

These students come from a variety of economic backgrounds. A few have families that can afford a good camera with lenses and all the features they need to learn the skills of today's photographers. Unfortunately, the majority of my students do not have access to such equipment which does not give them an equal learning opportunity.

Our school does not have the funding to provide equipment for each student. So we have a few cameras to check out. We were also able to purchase a good classroom camera for students to practice with at school. In the Photography class, I teach them a variety of photography skills and techniques. I want them all to have opportunities to be competitive and graduate with skills to be used in their careers.

My Project

My students want to learn all of the skills they will need to put them on the path of Professional Photographers. To be competitive and have the skills out of high school my students need to be able to practice and explore their options in all areas of Photography. This includes close-up photography. With Canon - EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens my students will be able to include close up photography to their portfolios.

Adding a good macro lens to our camera equipment would allow my students the opportunity to see things in a new and unique way.

This kind of lens would help my students to see a world beyond what they see everyday.
