This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students thrive when presented with challenging learning tasks that are relevant to their lives. However, with rigorous learning comes to stress and struggle time. Stress combined with cold germs can lead to students missing school and losing out on learning.

It is, therefore, my goal to help my students avoid becoming overwhelmed with stress and to maintain a clean classroom for them.

I generally teach a very diverse group of students. This year, I have students in my classroom whose families are from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, India, and various parts of the United States. Six of my twenty-five students are English learners. My students also come from socio-economically diverse backgrounds. While a few are from middle-class families, more than half came from working-class families. My students' families are interested and involved in their children's educations. However, as a school community, we need assistance to obtain materials to enrich student learning.

My Project

The materials you are funding will improve our classroom environment. The headphones and headphone splitters will keep noise levels down while students work with technology. The Clorox wipes will allow me to wipe down desks at the end of the day insuring that students do not spread cold germs to each other during the upcoming months. The plants will bring the greatest number of benefits to our classroom. Research shows that plants in the classroom have multiple positive impacts. They improve class academic performance, they combat stress and feelings of anxiety, and they can promote a sense of community. Help us bring these wonderful resources to our classroom!
