Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Currently, our enclosed courtyard has one piece of gym equipment for a group of over 20 students. Climbing structures provide numerous benefits for preschool students with autism by promoting physical, sensory, and social development in a safe and engaging way.

The physical activity involved in climbing helps improve motor skills, coordination, and balance while also offering sensory input that can help regulate the sensory sensitivities common in children with autism.

The structured yet flexible nature of climbing encourages problem-solving and body awareness, fostering independence and confidence.

Additionally, these structures can promote social interaction by encouraging cooperative play with peers, enhancing communication skills, and social engagement. Overall, climbing structures offer a multifaceted approach to development that supports the unique needs of preschool students with autism. Our group of three classrooms would be so thrilled to have some equipment that is size-appropriate and fun!
