Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has been participating in a Climate Empowerment Learning Initiative for the past two years. Every subject our students learn about in school is connected back to climate change, climate justice, and climate empowerment.

This professional weather station would allow us to monitor our local environment (air quality, rainfall, wind speed, temperature, humidity, soil moisture, and much more) and use that data with our science, math, and tech departments so that students can interact with raw data, analyze the information they collect, create graphs, and present their findings to an audience.

This high-quality weather station would be shared with the entire campus so all students will have the chance to analyze the data we collect, make observations, and learn about climate change in a very personalized way. The clipboards will help student pairs collect data while out in the field. The sublimation spray will help me create Earth Day t-shirts for the students who complete this project. I hope to offer Earth Day stickers, rubber bracelets, and t-shirts to all students who finish their weather analysis.

Please help bring even more climate change learning to our middle school students. We need to educate young people about how to fight this existential threat so we have a new generation of climate change warriors to tackle these challenging problems.
