My Students

My artists are in grades K-8. I teach the expressive discipline of art to almost the entire school. We are a Title I school with children who are mostly from a low socio-economic background. Most of them have transient living situations and the only safe, welcoming place they have to express their ideas and emotions regularly and creatively is the art room. I try to vary the materials and learning experiences to address and engage all types of learners and keep their natural curiosity heightened.

My Project

Please help me provide clear technical demonstrations to my students in Art. This document camera will allow me to Zoom painting and other art techniques to my remote students from above. This is so important for wet media like watercolor and to zoom in on details and written references. It will also allow me to enlarge in-person demonstrations onto a large screen in the classroom while students are not able to "huddle up". Social distancing requirements have made it very difficult for the children to come close enough to see technical demonstrations well.

Thankfully my young artists have been able to make enough Art this year that we have worn out our art room pencil sharpener so there is one more tool we really need to sharpen things up!
