Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being admitted to a vibrant and creative art school is not the easiest thing to do. While aware of the school's low acceptance rate, thousands of prospective students are competing for the spot!

Located in the middle of Wynwood's Art District in Miami, this school is THE place to be!

I am privileged to teach the most talented and diverse students in Miami!

The violas, cellos, pianos, violins, and saxophones- all are playing their instruments in syncopation. The chorus rooms are filled with beautiful voices, and as I peek through the dance studio's window, I can see the ballet dancers gracefully dancing en pointe.

In addition to their extraordinary talents, my students have varying abilities, and they learn in an all-inclusive, safe environment. From English as a Second Language, to gifted and those with varying disabilities, they engage in cooperative learning and everyone is accepted. When they walk into my class, they are always eager to know what they will learn that day.

My Project

I want to create a well-organized classroom for learning. At the beginning of the school year, students were assigned computers. Unfortunately, this hasn't worked because the computers are currently being stored in a plastic bin inside folders that constantly needs replacement as a result of wear and tear, and most are not being properly charged since there are a limited amount of outlets in the classroom.

"A well-organized classroom sends a clear and positive message to students: This room was created for you, with your specific needs in mind, because you and your learning are important."

Students end up grabbing any computer they find and charging them near certain outlets. It is important that computers and headphones are assigned to students, because I am able to quickly pinpoint who is vandalizing the equipment.

Our classroom has a limited amount of outlets and most of the computers are not fully charged throughout the day. Purchasing the computer cart will help resolve this problem.
