Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are struggling readers, but they all come with the capacity to learn and grow. Introducing them to great literature not only takes them into the world of the characters, but teaches them to dream and aspire to more than they can immediately see.

Students not only learn about great characters and explore wonderful places, but through reading, they can also learn new vocabulary, proper syntax and cohesion in writing.

Reading is as important to learning as breathing is to living.

My Project

Although we have access to computers in the classroom, my students do not get the word processor experience because we do not have access to printers in school. Having access to printers would allow students to practice typing school and practice skills necessary for high school and beyond.

Navigating the internet is not enough preparation for high school and beyond.

Students need to be able to type reports, research and other necessary assignments in order to be ready for higher learning. My students are in sixth grade, but I am convinced that if they begin typing and producing assignments that are clear and neat it would enhance the writing experience as well as boost confidence for those students who otherwise don't feel the confidence because of their penmanship.
